New York City Bus Crash: 6 Injured After NYC Casino Bus Gets Cut Off by Car, Slams on Building

New York City authorities say six people have been injured Monday following a casino bus crashing into a brick building. The New York City bus crash resulted a large part of the structure to become sheared off, while the front of the bus became demolished with front windows out, reported Fox News.

Police said Tuesday that the driver who was responsible for the New York City bus crash has been ticketed. The driver reportedly caused injuries to 6 people after cutting off the casino bus and jumping a curb.

The New York City bus crash took place around 2:30 p.m. local time on Monday when the Resorts World Casino bus swerved in order to avoid a car it was about to hit. The bus struck a three-storey building, which holds a law office in the Rego Park section of Queens.

The bus driver involved in the New York City bus crash has been identified as James Honorat, 39. Meanwhile, the 37-year-old man behind the Toyota vehicle has not been identified. He was issued a summons after making the improper turn, according to The Associated Press.

Honorat reportedly had to be cut from the wreckage. He has been hospitalized with face and hand injuries, according to police, adding that he has not been charged with any crime for the New York City bus crash. The five passengers inside the bus have been treated for their injuries at a local hospital after suffering neck and arm pain and cuts, authorities said.

The building where the bus crashed has received a vacate order, according to Alexander Schnell, Buildings Department spokesman.

The casino bus has already been removed. A construction fence is also being installed on the scene, Schnell added.

Resorts World Casino representatives, as well as those representing the bus operator Trans Express, said they will cooperate with investigators regarding the New York City bus crash.

The Resorts World Casino in Queens boasts of a free shuttle bus service. Their buses are reportedly operated by the Brooklyn-based Trans Express, also part of public transport operator, National Express. In November 2013, Trans Express also had a crash where there had been one injury.

According to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration data, in the last two years, Trans Express has been charged with 16 violations. Last year, it also received two maintenance violations which concern vehicle tires, according to NBC New York.
