Scarlett Johansson, Kendrick Lamar, and Elon Musk among First Guests of Stephen Colbert

We are just a few weeks away from the highly anticipated debut of Stephen Colbert as host of CBS' The Late Show. No one knows what to expect from the funnyman, now that he's stripped himself of his satirical persona, but he is certainly bringing out some heavyweight guests, for his first week at the helm of the Late Show.

The LA Times has just published the complete roster of guests. His inaugural episode on Tuesday, September 8 will feature Actor George Clooney and Republican presidential hopeful, Jeb Bush. Jon Batiste and Stay Human will serve as musical guests.

Wednesday will feature Avengers star Scarlett Johannson together with Tesla founder Elon Musk. Rapper Kendrick Lamar will be the musical act for the night.

Thursday's guest will be Travis Kalanick, CEO of ride-sharing giant Uber. Country star Toby Keith will perform.

The week will be rounded out with appearances from comedian Amy Schumer and best-selling author Stephen King. Troubled Waters, a Simon and Garfunkel tribute band, will be interviewed and also perform to close the show.

It's clear that despite moving to a more traditional late night format, Colbert is still staying true to his roots. CEO's aren't exactly a common pick for a late night show, but Colbert has opted to have two of the biggest and most highly publicized tech leaders front and center during his programs opening week.

Jeb Bush and George Clooney on the otherhand, are choices that will obviously appeal to the more politically minded part of Colbert's fan base.

At the TCA summer press tour, Colbert said:

"Anybody who is interesting and has something to say, that's what I'm interested in. I love artists, whether they're actors or musicians. I want to have politicians of all stripes on the show. ... But if somebody is not famous and they've got something to say and they can present themselves on camera, I think that would be a perfect guest to have."
