George Lucas Is Getting Married To DreamWorks Animation Chairman Mellody Hobson

The creator of Star Wars will be tying the knot with DreamWorks Animation chairman Mellody Hobson. Fans of the sci-fi writer/director reacted with excitement to the news.

George Lucas, thanked his fans via Twitter for their tremendous support:

"Thank you for all of your kind messages regarding my engagement. I find them both touching and meaningful."

According to Entertainmentwise, this is not the first wedding for the Star Wars mogul:

However, this isn't Lucas' first wedding as he was previously married to film editor Marcia Lou Griffin with whom he shared 14 years before the couple divorced in 1983.

Lucas has three adoptive children, Amanda, who he adopted whilst with Marcia along with Katie and Jett.

He also been in a relationship with singer Linda Ronstadt. Whilst Mellody, twenty-five years his junior, has never previously been married and has no children.

Hollywood Reporter writes about the successful career of Hobson, who in addition to her work as DreamWorks chairman also heads Chicago-based Arield Investments Llc. and is chairman of Ariel Mutual Funds:

Ariel reportedly is among the largest African-American-owned money management and mutual fund companies in the U.S.

Hobson is a regular financial contributor to ABC's Good Morning America and in 2009 hosted a show on the same network called Unbroke: What You Need to Know About Money.

Lucas, 63, has recently been in the headlines for selling Lucasfilm Ltd. to Disney. He earned $4.05 billion from that sale, which he mostly donated to an education foundation.

This will be the first marriage for Hobson, 43. They have been romantically linked since 2006.
