New Interactive Watch Face for Google Smartwatches; Details About the Latest ‘Android Wear’ Software Update [VIDEO]

A new Android Wear update has recently been released, bringing a more exciting and interactive watch face experience to Android Wear smartwatch users.

The new, animated watch face needs to be set up with the settings first, then users will get to experience a moving image as a background and for better interaction.

With the new Android Wear update, Android Wear smartwatch owners will have a wide array of interactive experiences with their device, such as a calendar showing a to-do-list when touched. The software has reportedly begun rolling out Friday. It will eventually be available to all Android Wear devices in the following weeks.

With the latest Android Wear update comes an interactive watch face API released for developers as well.

Android Community has provided the script below to allow enabling of the Interactive watch faces.

setWatchFaceStyle(new WatchFaceStyle.Builder(mService)
.setAcceptsTapEvents(true)
// other style customizations
.build());

Judging by its name, the interactive watch face is sure to bring more life into the Android Wear smartwatch, as well as more ways of interaction. However, the idea for the latest Android Wear update isn't just for animation, it also enables a more convenient way for connection and reminding one's self of important information such. Interaction and helpful information will now be accessed more quickly by the Android Wear smartwatch user.

There are currently three interactive watch faces released with the latest Android Wear update, namely the Bits Watch Face, Together and Under Armour Watch Face, reported Phone Arena.

"Bits" lets smartwatch owners choose info they want to see on the screen, some of which include time, missed calls, battery status, stocks, new mail, weather and upcoming meetings.

"Together" watch face allows for the transformation of the device's entire display to be a space "for sharing." Users can pair their smartwatches with another's, allowing for the sharing of photos, emojis, as well as activities.

Last, but not the least, "Under Armour" watch face is specially made for users who want to check their fitness stats on a regular basis.

According to Techno Buffalo, Google's new Android Wear update also offers users access to its Translate software. It supports 44 languages and provides real-time translation once a user speaks into his or her smartwatch.

There will also be Wi-Fi support to the old LG G Watch R, according to Android Community. This has reportedly become a big issue for the smartwatch model as the company even issued an official statement last May addressing the problem.
