Samsung to Give iPhone Users Test Run on New Galaxy Phones

Samsung is trying to woo iPhone users into their fold. And how do they plan on doing this? Well, they are now offering a 30-day "Ultimate Test Drive" for just $1 on their latest and greatest phones yet: the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

As reported by Apple Insider, it works fairly simply. Using your iPhone, visit www.samsungpromotions.com. Select the phone you want to test. Use it for 30 days. Once the trial period is over, simply return the phone, or if it feels right, then make the switch. There are no obligations and the offer is valid regardless of carrier.

The offer comes as Samsung fights a tough battle to keep ahead of the competition. Its market share has dipped by 4% during Q2 of this year. Also, even after its launch last March, the Galaxy S6 still failed to salvage Samsung's seven quarters of profit decline.

The way Samsung has targeted iPhone users also speaks volumes of Apple's incredible hold on demand for its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Unlike Samsung, Apple has seen a rise in demand for its flagship phones.

Android Authority also published that there are a few caveats that come with the promo. First, it is only available in the US for users aged 18 and above. A valid credit card is also needed to avoid theft of the loaned phones. Also, a minimum of two surveys must be accomplished by the tester. Oh, and Samsung also gets rights to the metadata collected during the trial period.

It is not clear just how well the trial run is going to perform. A similar promo was attempted by T-Mobile where users were invited to take an iPhone 5S out for a week. "It wasn't a disaster, but it didn't explode like T-Mobile thought it might," said Avi Greengart, analyst at Current Analysis.
