Coolhaus Will Release Ice Cream Sandwiches Stuffed With Pastrami in Food Trucks Soon

Coolhaus is known for their weird but yummy ice cream sandwiches. Now, they are adding a new theme in the list, Jewish deli ice cream and cookie flavors.

CEO Natasha "Tash" Case told Today, "The Jewish deli-themed menu is a millennial twist on the decades-old staple of comfort food."Our generation is creating new takes on the deli concept, and since we are a pioneering dessert brand, we wanted to do the same with sweet and savory plays on deli classics."

"I had most of the team in disbelief that these flavors wouldn't just cause intrigue, but actually be good," she says. "I mean, cream cheese and rye, latke ... pastrami ice cream!? But when we all tasted them, they worked," she added.

Among the unconventional cookie flavors are 'Black & White,' which is a sponge shortbread cookie immersed in dark chocolate and vanilla frosting.

They also created a pie-style cookie called 'Marbled rye.' This concoction contains a chocolate and vanilla flavoured cookie covered in rye and caraway seeds.

Hamentash, which was named personally by Case, is a cherry-filled shortbread included in the new roster.

For the ice cream line, Coolhaus will be introducing the 'Potato Latke and Apple Sauce,' variant which is basically a baked apple pie flavour. This dessert consists of nutmeg, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla, and served with salty French fries.

The company will also be introducing a mascarpone base ice cream with cream cheese named 'Cream Cheese & Rye.' This is served with a swirl of nutty harvest rye crackers.

The most exciting of all the 'Pastrami' dishes is caramelized pastrami that comes with a special sauce.

Case revealed that it takes them one month to develop new flavors from "concept to production."

She also admitted that they tried to develop new flavors using different ingredients, including a pickle. However, "The interns actually screamed when they saw it."

Coolhaus will release their latest flavors by the end of August in trucks based in Los Angeles, New York and Dallas.
