This year, the franchise that turned Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence into the biggest star in Hollywood is coming to an end, and as such the "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" posters are definitely something to be excited about ahead of the late November release - but the new artwork has raised too many eyebrows and landed the team behind it some very bad press.
Someone at the design department in Lionsgate must have gotten fired after the release of the newest "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" poster, after it was pointed out in social media that the poster, undoubtedly very innocent in nature, actually spells out one of the worst expletives in the English language.
According to Variety, the film series' official Twitter account posted the now infamous "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" poster, featuring Katniss Everdeen's face sporting some red warrior face paint, with the words "100 Days Until The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2," but an error in font makes the words look like something else altogether.
Screen Crush reports that this "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" poster sees the last 0 of the "100," partially broken and resembling an U, coupled with "until," spelling one of the worst insults in the language in a franchise that's aimed at a fairly young audience.
According to Hollywood Life, it's a bit difficult to notice the big mistake on the "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" poster, but once you've seen it it's basically impossible to miss as the design altogether is something of a hot mess.
Of course, many were fast to point out the massive error in the poster, prompting the Twitter account to quickly delete it from their timeline - but things being what they are in the Internet, of course someone had already copied the very politically incorrect image.
Lionsgate, the producing company behind the dystopian franchise, still hasn't commented on the "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" poster mistake.
