After her breakthrough role as adorable chef Sookie in "Gilmore Girls" starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, the 44 year-old actress has gone on to become one of the most recognizable figures in female comedy these days, and now she's expanding further in her career with Melissa McCarthy's clothes line.
After having announced the Melissa McCarthy clothes line a few months back, it's now on August that the star of the all-female "Ghostbusters" reboot is releasing her new brand, Seven 7, aimed at women of all sizes after having struggled with weight fluctuations - and body image - for the better part of her life.
According to USA Today, the first Melissa McCarthy clothes collection is now currently selling at Nordstrom.com as well as Macys.com, with price ranges between $54 and $169 selling them through September 1, later available at Pennington's Canada, Belk, Von Maur, Bloomingdale's, HSN and Evans UK, as well as the actress' website MellisaMcCarthy.com.
Although the Melissa McCarthy clothes line was only announced a few months back, in fact it was three years in the making, as she promises a collection directed at every woman of any size and shape.
"I wanted to make a real closet. You should be able to throw everything into a bag and you're all set," said the actress about her new line. "Women come in all sizes. That's the most logical thing. That's the big part of the fun for me, making clothes for all women."
Entertainment Tonight Online reports that Melissa McCarthy's clothes line isn't a spur of the moment kind of thing, as she's actually always been interested in fashion for the better part of her life; in fact, McCarthy studied fashion before she decided to go into acting.
Speaking to Refinery29 recently, the Oscar nominee talked about how uncomfortable she was with the term "plus-size clothing," as it's about designers over-complicating a very easy affair - particularly when it comes to clothing women.
In any case, check out the new Melissa McCarthy clothes, already available!
