Scooby-Doo Animated Movie Is in the Works At Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. will bring back the franchise of the film series based on the Hanna Barbera animated cartoon series Scooby-Doo/ The animated movie is slated for release on September 21, 2018.

The upcoming Scooby-Doo animated movie will be produced by Charles Roven and Richard Suckle both were also the producers of the studio's live-action films Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. Also producing is Allison Abbate, whose credits include Fantastic Mr. Fox, Corpse Bride, and Frankenweenie.

Tony Cervone (directed Space Jam) will helm the new Scooby-Doo animated movie. Director Cervone's TV credits includes Cartoon Network's The Looney Tunes Show and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. The screenplay was written by Matt Lieberman (also did the Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief). The executive producer of the Scooby-Doo animated movie will be Dan Povenmire (Family Guy - the animated series features the adventures of the Griffin family).

Warner Bros. Pictures will present the new Scooby-Doo under the Warner Animation Group banner who got their prominence from last year's The Lego Movie.

Greg Silverman, Warner Bros.' president of creative development and worldwide production, stated, "Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters," Greg Silverman also said, "As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie."

The Scooby-Doo animated movie announcement was made jointly by Warner Bros. executives Greg Silverman, Dan Fellman, Sue Kroll and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg.

Dan Fellman stated, "It's always a treat to see Scooby-Doo on the big screen and to share his larger-than-life adventures with audiences. As anticipation grows throughout production, the movie's mid-September release date should start the fall season with a burst of fun."
