More tan one year ago, the star of the show inside the show of "30 Rock" was involved in a major car crash that took the life of his pal and fellow comedian James McNair, and he's been mostly out of the spotlight ever since, focusing on getting better - but the next season of "Saturday Night Live" will see Tracy Morgan's 2015 comeback!
It was on June 7 last year that Morgan's life changed forever, as he was one of the passengers in a six-vehicle crash in New Jersey after being struck from behind by a Walmart truck, causing a chain reaction crash that would ultimately cause major injuries and one dead - and, understandably, the journey to reach this point in Tracy Morgan's 2015 was a long and arduous one.
According to CNN Money, Tracy Morgan's 2015 return to the small screen is set to be on the show that saw his career born (he was part of the cast between 1996 and 2003), as he'll host the October 17 episode of "SNL."
As IGN reports, one of the concerns surrounding Tracy Morgan's 2015 condition was that there was a chance he would be unable to perform once again after sustaining brain injury - and now, after missing the 40th anniversary show due to his recovery (although "30 Rock" cast members Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey spoke about him during the special), he'll be coming back for the third episode of the 41st season.
Before Tracy Morgan's 2015 hosting, the first episode of the season will feature Miley Cyrus, while Amy Schumer will take the job as the second host of the 41st season.
According to ABC News, after reps for the show confirmed Morgan's appearance in the fall, the actor took to Twitter to celebrate.
"Stoked to be going home... #SNL," was Tracy Morgan's 2015 tweet about his big comeback to the industry after a one-year absence.
