Star Wars: The Force Awakens Promotional Movie Poster Revealed [PHOTO]

The iconic painted posters for every Star Wars movie have long served as a key visual link between the films. Star Wars: The Force Awakens first movie poster was released to attendees at Disney's massive D23 Expo.

The artwork was created by renowned artist Drew Struzan and it was done in the iconic style fans have become accustomed to for the Star Wars saga.

The poster drops big hints on the plot, it pretty much confirmed that John Boyega’s character Finn will be a Jedi. This is the first time his character is seen wielding a lightsaber, the weapon of the Jedi.

There have been teases of his connection to this weapon before, but now fans get to see a full fledged pose, and he certainly looks like a force to be reckoned with.

There hasn’t been much official artwork released in regards to 'The Force Awakens' up to this point. Drew Struzan’s poster has also given fans a closer glimpse at a few of the main characters in the upcoming installation to the Star Wars franchise.

Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver, Rey played by Daisy Ridley, and the returning Han Solo played by Harrison Ford are also featured on the poster.

The poster is not the main poster for 'The Force Awakens,' it is a promotion for D23 attendees. Drew Struzan will create another primary poster for the film.

If Drew’s work seems familiar, it’s because he not only worked on all the 'Star Wars' movies’ promotional materials in the past, but he also crafted works for the 'Indiana Jones' movies as well.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18, 2015, followed by Star Wars: Rogue One on December 16, 2016, Star Wars: Episode VIII on May 26, 2017, and the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film on May 25, 2018. Star Wars: Episode IX is expected to reach theaters in 2019, followed by the third Star Wars Anthology film in 2020.
