A live hand grenade has been dislodged by the experts after it was found at McDonald's in Thurmont Maryland.
A landscaping crew was cleaning the area when they found a military grade hand grenade at the McDonald's parking area around 1 pm on Saturday, Inquisitr reports.
Bomb technician and Office State Fire Marshall secured the area and remove the terrifying device.
Dale Ednock, who is the bomb technician believes that the explosive object was a relic of the military based which was situated in Thurmont. He believes that the bomb was accidentally left over decade ago.
Although it has been in the McDonald's parking lot pavement for quite some time, the grenade reportedly could have killed numerous people if it had gone off.
Edncok explains, "If the guy operating the shovel machine had hit it, he would have been killed, no question."
Apparently the grenade found near at the McDonald's was mistakenly identified by many people as a toy. But scanner shows that the grenade is a live explosive that could have hurt and kill many people.
Customers, including employees of the McDonald's were evacuated from the area. The evacuees were about 50 people. Roads were closed while the experts are extracting the deadly device from the site.
During the extraction, officers also placed barricades in case the grenade accidentally went off, to protect people from any possible splinters.
People in nearby stores were allowed to leave after the grenade is fully inspected and removed from the site.
Edncok also explains that he is planning to take the grenade to the state fire marshal's office for proper disposal of the explosive device.
More crew will come at the McDonald's to survey the area using a metal detector. Searching for a possible dangerous device or metals that could possibly harm innocent people.
