'X-Men' Star Daniel Cudmore Explains Why He Passed On Playing Colossus In Tim Miller's 'Deadpool'

Fans have been curious as to why Colossus has a different look, and is played by a different actor in the upcoming Marvel film 'Deadpool.' Now, the actor who originally portrayed Peter Rasputin in the 'X-Men' movies has finally shed some light on the recasting.

Daniel Cudmore has previously played Colossus in 'X2,' 'X-Men: The Last Stand' and 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' and it's no surprise that the role was once again offered to him for 'Deadpool.' However, the actor tweeted in February that he has turned down the opportunity.

"Thanks everyone for all the support for me 2 reprise the role of #Colossus in #Deadpool but unfortunately it won't be happening for me," Cudmore tweeted.

Daniel Cudmore initially had no comment on why he declined the part, but Cinemablend has just reported that he has finally revealed why he decided not to play Colossus in 'Deadpool.'

"I did get a call for Colossus but it was CGI/stunts and not using my voice so I graciously passed. Love 2 play him in the future as an actor," Cudmore tweeted last Friday.

The actor did admit that he loved the script for 'Deadpool' and is looking forward to seeing Colossus once again on the big screen.

Director Tim Miller has confirmed during the 'Deadpool' trailer breakdown that he did contact Daniel Cudmore for the role.

"I did actually call Daniel Cudmore to ask him if he wanted to do this, even though he'd be entirely CG the whole time," he told Empire. "He was very nice about it. He was like, 'I appreciate your offering, but nah.'"

Colossus will be played by Andre Tricoteux in 'Deadpool,' and Tim Miller admitted that he used the CGI effect to make the character a lot bigger than the Colossus in the 'X-Men' franchise.

"He should be this monstrous guy, and they actually let me make him seven-and-a-half feet tall," Miller said.

'Deadpool' crashes into theaters on February 12, 2016.
