Joe Jackson loves to have a good time, despite being close to 90 years old. He took a trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil, for his birthday on July 26, but instead of being able to celebrate, he ended up being hospitalized after suffering a stroke.
Fortunately, he has been discharged, but some details surfaced that he took partying a little too far with lots of alcohol and Viagra.
The 87-year-old flew into the country two weeks ago for a pleasure trip set to include a $200,000-birthday blowout in his honor but ended up being rushed to hospital on the eve of the celebration.
Family sources told TMZ doctors are running tests to discover exactly what had happened.
They were also trying to decide if he was well enough to be flown back to the United States for further treatment.
Joe suffers from diabetes, and it is unknown if this was a factor in him suffering the stroke.
Now as he recovers in Sao Paulo after being released from hospital, it has emerged the temptations of the Brazilian party city may have been physically too much for Michael Jackson's father.
Joe, the patriarch of the Jackson family, hasn’t been in the best condition in his old age, yet his partying ways haven’t really stopped.
Before suffering his stroke, he was reportedly out with some attractive and much younger women and consuming a fair amount of alcohol. But, the bigger issue was that he had also taken three pills for erectile dysfunction along with drinking, which is what triggered the stroke. That should not be the kind of medication he’s taking at his age.
Jackson continues his recovery after being released today from the Albert Einstein Hospital, where superstar daughter Janet is said to have come visit him. His son Jermaine was also present.
His two-week trip has been indefinitely extended as doctors monitor his progress.
