Gamescom 2015: EA Shows More Star Wars: Battlefront and Need for Speed

Electronic Arts took the stage at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany to show off more of their two big tent poles this year, the highly anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront and the rebooted street racer Need for Speed.

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June, EA showed off the impressive infantry and vehicular combat their new Star Wars game has to offer. During their Gamescom briefing, they put special emphasis on aerial warfare.

The latest clip showcases the new Fighter Squadron mode, which pits groups of iconic Star Wars spacecraft like X-Wings, Tie Fighters, and even the Millennium Falcon against each other in 20 player multiplayer mayhem. Players can get their hands on this mode and the rest of Battlefront when it launches in November.

Need For Speed was also on display at the show. The well-loved racing series has been given a fresh coat of paint this console generation. The game returns to its street racing roots and features an impressive open world city called Ventura Bay. Real life car icons like Ken Block and Magnus Walker will play a role in the game's story and players can challenge them to build reputation and progress through the campaign.

"Throughout your journey you'll also come across other real-world stars of car culture within the different stories, adding a richness and level of authenticity to your Need for Speed experience. This group of friends and the icons themselves will encourage and inspire you to carve your own path to become the ultimate icon."

Aside from these two big names, many of EA's other upcoming games were also on show. This year's installment of FIFA will feature a new mode called Fifa Ultimate Team Draft. It's a new spin on the popular ultimate team formula that will surely keep fans hooked.
