Fantastic Four's Michael B. Jordan Speaks Up On Interview Controversy

Last week Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara, two of the stars of Fox's upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, were subject to some rather ignorant questioning during a radio interview on Atlanta's Rock 100.5 to promote the film.

The questions centered on the newly imagined versions of Jordan and Mara's characters, the brother-sister duo of Johnny and Sue Storm. The upcoming film tweaks their origins a little, making Sue Johnny's adopted sister. The interviewer Jason Bailey, seemingly could not comprehend how a black man and white woman might be related, and pressed the pair before Jordan shut him down saying:

"There's a whole bunch of different family dynamics that it could be [even without] an obvious adoption."

Things took a turn for the worse when Bailey's co-host, Southside Steve, proceeded to ask Mara some inappropriate questions about her appearance. He called her "way, way hot" and made an awkward compliment at her toes saying, "I'm a toe guy. Your toes are fine."

The cringe worthy interview has been the talk of social media recently. Jordan and Mara, together with co-stars Miles Teller and Jaime Bell, addressed the controversy during a new interview with Huffpost Live yesterday.

Jordan says that he's happy that they 'took the high road'. He said:

"Sometimes journalists use that room as a safety net to kind of say whatever they want and ask questions that they would never normally ask you outside of that room. So, as actors, sometimes we feel the pressure to always say what you're supposed to and kind of put your best foot forward [in] promoting the film."

"But we're still people. We're still human. So that kind of bothers us. But you know, at the end of the day, we don't want to bring the attention to ignorance, and we always take the high road on these things and move forward."

Mara on the other hand, wrote off the whole thing as simple ignorance.

Fantastic Four opens in theaters on August 7.
