Summer is here, which means it's time for some of the most important festivals in the world, and that doesn't just include music fests but also, even more importantly, those centered around food such as the Gilroy Garlic Festival 2015, which just begun this Friday July 24!
This California festival was founded on 1979 by Dr. Rudy Melone, Don Christopher and Val Filice, and it's one of the biggest and most important of its kind in the Unites States, so the Gilroy Garlic Festival 2015 is a big event for the weekend, as they raise money for a few local charities.
According to Kron4, the Gilroy Garlic Festival 2015 will take place between Friday the 24th and Sunday the 26th, and it will feature some major treats for fans of garlic, including the world-famous "Pyro Chefs," besides entertainment for all ages, including a Children's Area and a Teen's Zone.
Daphne Oz from ABC's "The Chew" will be among the celebrity chefs attending the Gilroy Garlic Festival 2015, as she will be emceeing the Great Garlic Cook-Off taking place this Sunday, one of the most iconic traditions in this long-running festival.
Patch.com reports that there will also be 100 arts and crafts vendors present at the Gilroy Garlic Festival 2015, as just about every food imaginable takes a spot in the event with a small twist of garlic, and that includes dishes as regular as garlic calamari and scampi, but others as iconic to the festival as garlic ice cream and even garlic watermelon.
However, the biggest occasion during the Gilroy Garlic Festival 2015 has less to do with food and much more to do with a couple's love for each other and garlic, as, according to The Monterey Herald, locals Tom and Stacey Davenport have decided to renew their vows in the first-ever Garlic Dream Wedding - which also includes a free honeymoon on the Central Coast as well as a year's worth of garlic!
