Google Glass 2.0 Will Be An Enterprise Edition, No Retail Available

Google Glass 2.0 will be an 'Enterprise Edition' designed for the workplace where the wearable technology will be utilized for practical purposes. Reports reveal that the upcoming version of the glass will not be targeted for consumers.

The change can be attributed to the new durable design of the Google Glass which makes it perfect for hospitals and factories. Considering the nature of the environment where the device will be used, the glass will be built with a rugged appearance. The small computer and battery modules can be folded like a pair of eyeglasses, with the aid of the hinge mechanism.

Like the Explorer Edition, the new version includes a band that can be stretch up to the forehead and left ear of the user.

According to the report of 9to5Google, the coming device will be water resistant adding to its durability. Google seems to be focusing on improving the toughness of the device to make it withstand users' normal daily exposure to bumps and drops. Durability is a necessity in environments where fragility treatment cannot be guaranteed such as warehouses and factories.

The Enterprise Edition of the wearable technology comes with a bigger prism display to enhance the viewing experience. It will be powered by an Intel Atom processor for an advance performance. Google Glass 2.0 has an improved heat management and a better battery life for longer use. The previous version of the glass faced issues regarding its battery life and heat problems.

Google, the developer of the wearable technology is still planning to issue the Google Glass EE to the right companies. The glass will not be available for retail which has disappointed fans who are anticipating for the product.

Google is yet to reveal the release date and the price of the coming device.
