Things are looking up for the planned live-action movie for the video game 'Minecraft.' Only a few months after 'Night at the Museum' director Shawn Levy decided to bow out of the project, the film will now be helmed by another creative mind.

Mojang COO Vu Bui made the announcement on Tuesday with a photo of Rob McElhenney.

"Some of you may have seen this guy hanging around MINECON in London a couple weeks ago," the statement read. "He's Rob McElhenney, and he's going to be directing the upcoming Minecraft movie."

McElhenney is the creator and star of the hit TV series 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.' He has also written the script for most episodes and is the show's executive producer.

The actor has tweeted an acknowledgement of Mojang's announcement. "Hey @Mojang let's do something strange and wonderful," he wrote.

The announcement was made seven months after the original director opted out of the 'Minecraft' movie. According to Levy, he and Mojang did not agree on the creative level.

"What happened simply is, Warners asked me to develop kind of how might this ever be a story for a movie, because it's not a narrative game," he told WSJ. "We came up with an approach that felt good to us and I discussed it with Mojang, the game makers who make 'Minecraft,' and they were like, 'that doesn't sound like what we want if we're gonna see a movie get made.'"

At the time, Levy indicated that the gaming company was still undecided with how they want to proceed with the film.

"I think Mojang is still figuring out what they want," he said. "We gave it a shot and it wasn't the right fit, and so these things happen."

There is no word yet on when the 'Minecraft' movie will begin production.
