Dr Pepper Snapple Group to Introduce New Vending Program - Calories Count

Dr Pepper Snapple Group based in Plano, Texas and its beverage industry partners are making it easier for consumers to find calorie counts when they make purchases at vending machines.

Beginning in 2013, vending machines in municipal buildings in Chicago and San Antonio will display clear calorie information and a vending snipe reminding consumers that 'calories count' in all the choices they make. The new Calories Count® Vending Program extends a previous industry initiative which placed calorie labels on the front of every bottle, can and pack. The new vending program will be available to customers nationwide following the launch.

"At Dr Pepper Snapple Group, we are committed to giving consumers the flavors they love with fewer calories," said Jim Johnston, president of Beverage Concentrates. "Clearer labeling on our vending machines and a greater selection of low-calorie beverages inside will help consumers make the choice that is best for them."

DPS is widely recognized for having some of the best-tasting low-calorie drinks in the country, such as its Diet Dr Pepper and Diet Snapple brands. The company recently expanded its innovation leadership with Dr Pepper TEN, which delivers the iconic taste of regular Dr Pepper with only 10 calories. It is also currently testing additional 10-calorie products in several markets.

Dr Pepper TEN will be available through select machines in the Calories Count® Vending Program in addition to existing no- and low-calorie DPS products such as Diet Dr Pepper, Diet 7UP and both Diet and Lightly Sweetened Snapple.
