Things are definitely looking up for Sam Smith. The past couple of months have been hard for the "Lay Me Down" singer after suffering from a vocal cord hemorrhage and undergoing surgery to solve that problem.
Just this week, Balenciaga has introduced Sam Smith to be the star of its newest menswear campaign, for the Fall/Winter 2015 collection.
Photographer Josh Olins was the genius behind the black and white photos. All the released campaign snaps reveal a serious and brooding look on the British singer.
Not only that, Sam Smith could also be seen sporting the brand's famously well tailored suits and blazers.
The menswear campaign perfectly mirrors the womenswear campaign fronted by Kate Moss and Lara Stone.
Sam Smith and Balenciaga fans can also rejoice with the video accompanied with the campaign, which was also shot by Olins. It seems as though more photos are expected to come, the Instagram shots have been using the hashtag, #BALXSAMSMITH.
Balenciaga creative director Alexander Wang also expressed his sentiments on the "I'm Not The Only One" singer in a press release via InStyle.
"Beyond his tremendous talent, Sam Smith conveys a quiet elegance and a subtle sensuality that are perfect for Balenciaga. He represents both sensitivity and power - the dualities of the Balenciaga man," said Wang.
Smith says starring in the campaign is a "dream come true." He notes, "I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd be wearing these clothes let alone modeling them. So this is a dream come true, and I hope the beginning of a lovely long relationship with Alexander and the house."
This is Sam Smith's first foray in fronting a fashion campaign.
