'Game of Thrones' fans may still have a hard time accepting it, but it looks like Jon Snow really is dead. Kit Harington said it, director David Nutter said it (to President Obama, no less) and even Jon's favorite half-sister Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) said it. Everyone seems to agree that Jon Snow is dead.
The topic was unavoidable at Comic-Con, even during 'The Walking Dead' panel at Hall H. Actor Michael Cudlitz, who plays Abraham in the AMC series, had this to say about Jon Snow's fate: "He's dead. He's not coming back. He's dead."
But then he also added, "That happens in shows sometimes, unless he comes back as a Walker."
Did he mean, a White Walker?
Cudlitz may be joking, but the actor's statement holds water amidst Jon Snow theories. Fans have long considered the possibility that Jon Snow will become a White Walker, and have even gone as far as calling him the next Night's King.
[THE ARTICLE IS DARK AND FULL OF SPOILERS]
In the book series 'A Song of Ice and Fire,' the Night's King was once a Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. He was also said to be a Stark and the brother of the King of the North. According to legend, he fell in love with a white-skinned woman with "eyes like blue stars" and abandoned the Night's Watch to rule with his queen.
George R.R. Martin has confirmed that the Night's King is not the same as the White Walker leader seen in the episode 'Hardhome.' However, this has led to speculations that the "Night's King" in the show is looking for the worthy leader for the White Walker army.
Since Jon Snow is a Stark (albeit a bastard by either Ned or Lyanna Stark) and a Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, the theory points to him being resurrected by the White Walkers so he can lead them to battle Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons.
Jon Snow may be dead, but there might be a new Night's King arriving soon.
Will Jon Snow return as the new Night's King in 'Game of Thrones?' The truth shall finally be revealed when Season Six airs on HBO in 2016.
