Orange Is The New Black actor Laverne Cox recently revealed she almost got evicted and how she was so broke before she landed the role of Sophia on this new hit Netflix series.
In her interview with The Radio Times she said that back in 2012, she was in so much debt with her rent that she was delayed for nine months. It was a tough time for her financially that she even experienced going to housing court for the second time just so he would have a place to stay. But that was 3 years ago, now she's actually the known star and one of the most famous transgender celebrities in Hollywood.
Her role on OITNB is a transgender woman who went to jail because of credit car fraud. Breaking News got a hold of her interview with The Radio Times and that became her transition from rags to riches. The actor was not ashamed of her struggles in the past that she is now even proud to talk about it because she actually made it to the toughest business on earth, well at least in Los Angeles.
Living in Los Angeles is expensive. Most people there have to work 3 to 4 jobs in a day just to be able to pay their rent and keep up with their bills. And the sad part is that it still won't be enough because it is an expensive city. One should consider themselves lucky if they make it in this city and still have the time to fulfill their dreams.
Cox is such an inspiration to the LGBT community, specifically to a lot of transgenders. She is very open and vocal about her stand on being a transgender that she even made TIMES magazine this year. She has been an advocate of gay rights ever since.
