Lea Michele Pays Tribute To Cory Monteith On His Second Death Anniversary [PHOTOS]

It's been two years since "Glee" star Cory Monteith's untimely death. On Monday, his former girlfriend and co-star, Lea Michele posted a tweet to commemorate the 31-year-old actor.

"Today we remember the laughter and joy you brought into our lives every day. We think of you always and love you so," Michele wrote accompanied with a photo of Cory. In addition to Lea Michele's tweet, #2YearsWithoutCory was also trending on Twitter worldwide.

It was two years ago when Cory Monteith's remains were found at a hotel room in Vancouver, Canada. The coroner proclaimed that the actor died of a "mixed drug toxicity" overdose. Substances such as heroin and alcohol were found within his body.

Almost a year after his death, Lea Michele found solace and love again with her current boyfriend, Matthew Paetz. The two met while filming Michele's "On My Way" music video back in April 2014.

Just a few months ago in May, the "Scream Queens" actress also posted a snap on Instagram to wish Matthew Paetz a happy birthday.

"Matthew, thank you for bringing such happiness into my life. For making me smile again and bringing such a bright joy into my every day... thank you for loving me and my family... And of course Sheila too.. May this be the happiest Birthday ever," she captioned the sweet snap.

The thoughtful greeting followed a week after Lea Michele gave a shoutout to Cory Monteith on his supposed 33rd birthday.

She tweeted along with a throwback photo of the "All the Wrong Reasons" actor, "I know you're serenading everyone right now.. We love you Cory! Happy Birthday.."

Back in 2013, Ellen DeGeneres interviewed Lea Michele on "The Ellen Show" where the "New Year's Eve" actress talked about coping with Monteith's death.

"There is an empowerment that comes with grief - at some point you find it. It's very hard but you will find it, and I think at a certain point you can choose to sort of fall from this or you can choose to rise," Michele explained.

She also added, "And that's what I'm just trying to do my best for him, because I know that that's what he would have [wanted]."

#2YearsWithoutCory has definitely not been easy for fans, but even more so for Lea Michele. Nevertheless, Cory Monteith is always remembered.
