Wreck-It Ralph 2 is Coming According to John C. Reilly

It looks Disney just put some more coins in Wreck-It Ralph's arcade machine. The 2012 smash hit animated film is getting a sequel. The news comes from actor John C. Reilly, who provides the voice acting for the titular character.

Reilly, who is in Ireland attending the Galway Film Fleadh, broke the news last Sunday when he guested on Irish Radio Program RTE Arena. Reilly said on air that he is "signed on" to work on the film. His comments echo those of his co-star Sarah Silverman, who in 2012 told moviehole.net that "there will be a sequel."

The first film's director Rich Moore is also raring to go. In 2013 he told The Huffington Post that he would love to make another Ralph film:

"My experience was so tremendous on this film and the animators, the designers, the story artists, the actors -- I know everyone here had a good time making the film," he said. "I've talked with John [C. Reilly] and Sarah [Silverman] and we would all love to visit that world again and work with those characters again. We would jump at the opportunity. We're all crossing our fingers about as far as you can cross them that we get a chance to do that."

Entertainment.ie, also mentions that Disney is in talks with Nintendo over licensing popular characters like Mario and Luigi for the sequel.

The first Ralph was a critical and commercial success for Disney. It banked $471 million in worldwide box office receipts and was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at both the Academy Awards and Golden Globes.

The original film centred on Ralph (Reilly), a fictional video game villain in the mold of Bowser and Donkey Kong who serves as a foil to the Mario like hero Fix-it-Felix (The Office's Jack McBrayer). Tired of playing the bad guy, Ralph embarks on a journey through video game worlds both real and fictional as he sets out to prove that he is worthy of being a hero. Along the way he encounters video game characters like take no prisoners Sergeant Calhoun (Glee's Jane Lynch) and the loveable Vanellope Von Schweetz (Silverman).
