Three Teenage Girls Allegedly Stole A Cab For A Joy Ride!

Three teenage girls were arrested by the police officers for questioning on Wednesday after taking a maxi taxi on a short- lived joy ride on the GoldCoast overnight.

Apparently the taxi was left with the keys inserted in the ignition at a Caltex service station in Arundel.

The two teenagers involved are 15 years old and an 18 year old girl from Biggera Waters who allegedly drove the taxi.

An eyewitness was a 7-11 customer who noticed the girls driving the taxi and alerted the authorities right away.

The three offenders were arrested and taken to the Southport police station for questioning and all three girls were released later on the morning of Wednesday.

The alleged driver was charged with unlawful use of motor vehicle, are expected to appear in court at a later date.

As for the two 15 year old teens, one is from Coobabah and the other one from Hollywell, will be punished under the Youth Justice Act.

According to the Brisbane times, the police said, "The three offenders have walked past, seen that the keys are in the vehicle and jumped in and driven away."

Then after the eyewitness called the authorities, officers arrived on the scene at 3am and they found the taxi with flat tire and minor damage.

The police added, the teens allegedly stole the taxi from the Caltex service station near the Brisbane road at 3am. Then they were tracked down 25 minutes later at a convenience store after a concern citizen made a call.

One of the teens was sitting in front of the passenger seat, another one was inside the convenience buying something, while the third one was caught about 1 km away from the cab, walking on foot.  

A spokesperson of the police said, the driver, including one of the 15 year old teen were under the influence of alcohol.
