'Batman v Superman' Star Henry Cavill Talks About 'Dawn of Justice' and Future 'Man of Steel' Movies

Fans of the Man of Steel are understandably excited to see Henry Cavill reprise his role in the highly anticipated 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.' However, as the title suggests, audiences shouldn't expect Clark Kent to take top billing.

Cavill recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly, where he revealed that 'Batman v Superman' will mostly be about the Caped Crusader.

"As far as the individual character is concerned, this is not a Superman sequel," the actor said. "It's more of an introduction to Batman, an opening to 'Justice League,' and an expansion of the world that was created in 'Man of Steel.'"

The 'Man from U.N.C.L.E' star did confirm that 'Man of Steel 2' might be in the future.

"There's plenty of time for individual Superman sequels," Henry Cavill said. "He's a tough character to tell. People like the darker vigilante. I think it speaks to the human psyche more easily rather than the god-like being that we can't really understand."

So when can the fans expect a new Superman movie? Henry Cavill says that the DC Cinematic Universe needs to see more movies before that happens.

"Once we have a more expansive universe we can delve more into the character of Superman and hopefully tell more stories," the actor said.

The British actor first donned the red cape in the 2013 film 'Man of Steel,' which features one of the most massive city destructions ever filmed. Director Zack Snyder, who also worked on 'Batman v Superman,' recently explained why the carnage took such a huge body count.

"I was surprised because that's the thesis of Superman for me, that you can't just have superheroes knock around and have there be no consequences," the director said.

'Man of Steel' also presented a reason for Batman to get back at the Kryptonian. One of the buildings Superman and General Zod destroyed was a property of Bruce Wayne. The destruction led to death of several of Wayne's employees.
