Rumors have been floating around for a month that BlackBerry has been developing a phone with an Android OS.
It seems as though BlackBerry is finally joining the bandwagon after the BlackBerry OS has failed to click with the market.
If the rumors are true, at least on-lookers can finally see a preview of what's to expect from the new device.
Based on a photo posted by Evan Blass, the new smart phone seems to take its shape from the Samsung S6 Edge - with curved display edges on the side. Rumors say that the BlackBerry in question is called "Venice," although Tech Crunch suspects that it's probably an alias.
Taking a closer look, the "general silhouette" of the gadget is still in line with what the company boasted of at the Mobile World Congress in March this year. However, the device that was shown at the event was clearly running on BlackBerry's BB10 operating system.
The sliding keyboard in the photo above is still unknown to appear in the rumored BlackBerry Android phone. But the keyboard might possibly have some room in the rendered photo posted by Blass.
Tech Crunch notes that the slide-out keyboard on the Android phone "would be a good move on BlackBerry's part." Simply because the Android market is filled with numerous competition that don't have the keyboard, so the sliding keyboard would definitely give BlackBerry an upper edge in the Android world.
N4BB, a BlackBerry fan site, has listed the specs for the BlackBerry Venice. The specifications for the new BlackBerry device features a 5.4-inch Quad-HD display, an 18 megapixel rear camera, and a five megapixel front camera.
The BlackBerry Venice also carries a 3-GB RAM and a 1.8 GHz Hexa-core (Snapdragon 808 chipset) 64-bit.
BlackBerry fans can expect to see the BlackBerry "Venice" Slider by November this year.
