Bruce Willis Movies Sees No End of Popularity, New Movie ‘Looper’ Being No Exception

Bruce Willis is well-known for starring major action hero roles, such as the macho police officer John McClane in the soon-to-be five "Die Hard" movies.

In his most recent role, playing Old Joe in the sci-fi movie "Looper", Willis is taking on a more intellectual role, where the focus of the movie is on the intelligent plot rather than the explosions and one-liners, although those parts are supplied as well.

In Looper, Willis role is somewhat of a departure from his early characters where the plots usually had a straightforward good vs. bad struggle. Looper, instead, focuses more on the intellectual aspects of time travel and the moral issues of a society becoming increasingly reliant on technology.

There is no doubt as to who was the movie's top star, with co-actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt wearing prosthetics during filming to look more like Willis as he played Old Joe's younger counterpart of 30 years, strikingly named Young Joe, while it could just as well have been the other way around were it not for Willis fame, although no-one involved in the filming would likely admit that.

Over all, the movie enjoyed positive reviews, with one stand-out critic being Slate's Dana Stevens, calling the movie "a maddening near-miss", because of what she perceived as an underdeveloped potential of the meeting between the present self and the future self.

On its opening weekend in the U.S. Looper enjoyed strong numbers, reaching 2nd place after "Hotel Transylvania" with a Weekend Gross of over $20,000,000, and showings in approximately 2,992 theatres, according to Box Office Mojo.
