Corey Stoll Says Ant-Man Villain “Yellow Jacket” Was Inspired by Gene Hackman

As far as villains go in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Corey Stoll's portrayal of Darren Cross/Yellowjacket is sure to rank near the top of your list. In an interview with ETonline the actor had this to say, According to Stoll, while they were shooting this, he watched the original Superman movie with Gene Hackman, and he was having so much more fun than he had any right to have.

Stoll told ETonline that from the beginning of his involvement with Marvel, he knew he was destined to play the villain. Stoll had met with the executives at Marvel years ago just for like a general meeting to get to know them, and for them to get to know him. He said he wanted to play a bad guy and luckily, they heard that and they agreed.

During a press junket with Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd and Corey Stoll. Rudd and Stoll both took the opportunity to talk about their suits. While Rudd really enjoyed wearing his suit, Stoll didn't actually have a physical suit, as his suit was entirely CGI. He said they tried to make it a practical suit. "We went through several iterations and it just was not working. So in the end it was completely CGI. And of course I had been working out like a fiend to be able to look good in this suit and in the end it just turned out to be for the behind the stage footage of me in my pajamas."

During the interview, Paul Rudd said that he was biased about his Ant-man suit because he loved it and it was the coolest suit of them all. He loved wearing it even if it was uncomfortable and even wore it on his days off from filming the movie. Rudd added, "And you know they keep the sound stages a little bit cooler because you know it doesn't really breathe THAT well.

Paul Rudd even went as far as to work out for the movie, trying to get the "Cris Pratt approach" as he likes to call it, which is just basically eliminating anything fun for about a year. He said that it is a good way to prepare for a role as a super hero. He also said that staying in shape and working out was very helpful in his role as Ant-man. Ant-Man opens in movie theaters on July 17, 2015.
