'Terminator: Genisys' Director Alan Taylor Explains How Marvel Changed 'Thor: The Dark World'

The Marvel sequel 'Thor: The Dark World' had a lot to live up to. After all, the first 'Thor' movie, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh, went on to make $449.3 million worldwide. Although the sequel managed to top that, the one person who isn't very happy with the outcome is director Alan Taylor.

In a recent Uproxx interview for his new film 'Terminator: Genisys,' Taylor revealed that too much creative freedom with somebody else's money could be a bad thing.

"I've learned that you don't make a $170 million movie with someone else's money and not have to collaborate a lot," Taylor explained.

"The Marvel experience was particularly wrenching because I was sort of given absolute freedom while we were shooting, and then in post it turned into a different movie. So, that is something I hope never to repeat and don't wish upon anybody else."

He did assure that this will not happen with 'Terminator: Genisys.'

"This was not like that," Taylor said about his new film. "The story we started telling is essentially the story we finished and are bringing out into the world. But there was a lot of collaboration, as there is going to be on something this big."

Alan Taylor seems quite satisfied with 'Terminator: Genisys.' "The finished movie has a lot more in common with what we started with, so that's great," he said. "The experience of making it with this cast, shooting in New Orleans, was quite fun, despite the grueling schedule."

He also hinted that he might return to direct another sequel: "If we were to have drinks somewhere, I have plenty to complain about. We'll do that next time."

When pushed further whether he would do another 'Terminator,' Taylor simply said, "I think everyone is sort of waiting to see what's going to happen."

'Terminator: Genisys' premiered on July 1, 2015.
