'Ted 2' And 'Max' Get Eaten By Dinosaurs At Weekend Box Office

Indominus Rex and friends continued to dominate the box office this weekend, taking a huge chunk of ticket sales from a wisecracking teddy bear and a brave German Shepherd.

According to Rentrak, 'Jurassic World' has earned another $54.2 million this weekend, pushing the film's grand total to $500.1 million. This means the dinosaur movie has made $500.1 million in just two weeks.

'Jurassic World' also stole the limelight from 'Inside Out' on its premiere last weekend. The dinosaurs have once again dominated over the Pixar film, but it still managed to pull in $52.1 million to bring its total earnings to $184.9 million.

Seth McFarlane's sequel to the wildly successful 'Ted' finally premiered this weekend, taking in an impressive $32.9 million in domestic sales. However 'Ted 2' fell flat of the projected $45-50 million it was expected to gain. The R-Rated comedy also made less than the first 'Ted,' which made $54.4 million on its opening weekend.

'Ted 2' follows the continuing adventures of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) and his talking teddy bear (voiced by Seth MacFarlane). The Thunder Buddies try to get rid of Ted's status as property with the help of Samantha Leslie Jackson (Amanda Seyfried).

The family adventure film 'Max' premiered alongside 'Ted 2' and managed to pull in $12.2 million in the weekend box office. The movie is about a dog that was sent to Afghanistan with US Marines and stars Thomas Haden Church, Robbie Amell, Lauren Graham and Jay Hernandez. Although it earned less than half of what 'Ted 2' made, 'Max' actually did better than its projected earnings of $10 million on its premiere.

Rounding off the top five is the action comedy 'Spy,' which took in $7.8 million during the weekend. The Melissa McCarthy starrer has now earned a domestic total of $88.4 million after three weeks in the theaters.
