Kit Harington Joins Dakota Fanning and Guy Pearce in 'Brimstone'

It may still be uncertain whether Jon Snow will be resurrected or survive his injuries in 'Game of Thrones,' but actor Kit Harington is moving forward with a new role in films.

Harington has just been cast in the drama 'Brimstone,' which also features his 'Game of Thrones' costar Carice van Houten. He will play Samuel in the film.

'Brimstone' also stars Dakota Fanning as Liz, a young girl who is trying to escape her past and an evil Reverend (Guy Pearce).

'Crimson Peak' star Mia Wasikowska was originally casted in the role of Liz, but has been replaced with Fanning. Robert Pattinson was also cast as Samuel, before being replaced by Harington.

This will be Harington's first feature-length film since the alleged death of his character Jon Snow on 'Game of Thrones.' The actor will also star in an HBO tennis mockumentary '7 Days in Hell' with Andy Samberg.

Harington's previous films include 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D' and 'Pompeii.' In 2014, he provided the voice of Eret in 'How to Train your Dragon 2' and starred opposite 'Ex Machina' actress Alicia Vikander in 'Testament of Youth.' He had a small role in the fantasy movie 'Seventh Son' and was one of the leads in the British spy film 'Spooks: The Greater Good.'

The 'Game of Thrones' actor is currently the reason behind the fan theory that Jon Snow is alive. Fans have cited Harington's absence from Comic Con and the length of his hair as evidence of his possible return in the sixth season of 'Game of Thrones.'

'Brimstone' has just started principal photography and will be shot in Germany, Romania and Spain. The film also stars Carla Juri, Jack Roth and Paul Anderson. It will be written and directed by Martin Koolhoven and is scheduled for release in 2016.
