On June 21, about 23,000 revellers flocked the Stonehenge to witness the sunrise of this year's summer solstice in Wiltshire.
Hippies, pagans and other people from different walks of life dressed in colorful costumes to celebrate the longest day of the year in a "positive and peaceful" ceremonial party.
The crowd enjoyed the friendly atmosphere with a spirit of love and good vibes, while they waited for the sun to rise at 4:52 BST.
"Solstice 2015 has been a great success with approximately 23,000 people celebrating at Stonehenge in the positive, friendly atmosphere as they waited for the sunrise," Wiltshire Police Superintendent Gavin Williams told Huffington Post. "This year the crowds were able to see the sun as it appeared over the horizon, before it disappeared under low cloud."
According to BBC, attendees celebrated through music and dance, as told by photos and videos taken at the Stonehenge that were posted throughout the Internet. Others also participated in the yoga session during the event, in celebration of the International Yoga Day which was also on the same date.
"The success of the event depends largely on the good nature of those attending and we are pleased that people could enjoy solstice in the spirit of the event," Williams added.
However, police reported that there were 9 drug-possession arrests during the event, which is a lower number compared to previous years. Authorities added there were more than 30,000 Summer Solstice attendees last year.
Every year, thousands of people celebrate the first day of summer at Stonehenge. This tradition is dated back 4,000 years ago, when Britons gather at the Neolithic site for religious activities.
For modern people, the Summer Solstice celebration at Stonehenge is a majestic location for celebrating peace, positivity and the love for nature.
Huffington Post added that the Stonehenge Summer Solstice will occur on the 22nd of June next year.
