Is Beyonce the next Marvel Superhero? Earlier today, The Daily Star published an exclusive report which revealed that the $250M music icon is in talks with Disney and Marvel about a possible role in the upcoming two part Infinity War saga, which will hit theatres in 2018 and 2019.
Marvel sees the 20 time Grammy Winner slotting in perfectly as the next female avenger alongside Scarlett Johannson's super spy Black Widow and Elizabeth Olsen's reality bending Scarlet Witch.
The Star quotes an anonymous Disney Exec who says: "We would love to have Beyoncé on board, almost certainly as a newcomer to the screen from Marvel's existing catalogue of comic book characters."
However, before fans get excited by the prospect of the 'Single Ladies' singer teaming up with Iron Man and the Hulk, several news outlets have released articles questioning the validity of the Star's report.
Popular comic book website Bleeding Cool called the piece a complete fabrication, pointing out several questionable details in the Star's so called exclusive scoop.
According to the Star, Beyonce is currently being considered for one of four roles in the next Avengers film:
â Boom-Boom: The alter-ego of Tabitha Smith, a secret agent with the ability to create lethal plasma bombs with her mind.
â Blink: A superheroine who can teleport herself and others anywhere.
â Tigra: A cat-like crime-fighter with superhuman strength, speed and agility.
â Hawkeye: An expert in combat, including sword-fi ghting, archery and jujitsu.
Both Bleeding Cool and UK based website The Mirror point out that two of those characters: Blink and Boom Boom are currently licensed with Fox Studios. The Former making an appearance in Fox's latest X-Men film 'Days of Future Past.' While the role of Hawkeye is famously a male character and already taken up by actor Jeremy Renner.
It seems like this rumour may be too good to be true.
