Mariah Carey spent one sweet day with new love interest, James Parker, in Capri Italy. They confirmed their surprise coupling by taking a romantic hand-in-hand stroll through the Italian streets on Friday.
The high-profile pair have been friends for years but sources just confirmed that they were now in a relationship.
Sources close to the 'Always Be My Baby' singer told TMZ that the 47-year-old Australian billionaire had been “aggressively pursuing Mariah for months, and he succeeded”.
“He’s wooing her,” a source told Us Weekly. Another source mentioned that James co-runs RatPac Entertainment with Mariah’s good friend, Brett Ratner, who helped set them up.
“Brett knows a ton of people with a ton of money. He always needs to be where the cash is to finance his film ideas and James has become a friend and Brett knew that Mariah would be a great fit for him," a source tells HollywoodLife exclusively.
"Brett was definitely the matchmaker when everyone thought he himself was going for Mariah’s heart.”
They had been secretly dating for weeks, and the relationship was made public on Friday after they were snapped holding hands.
Mariah and James were spotted dining at upmarket restaurant Aurora. An eyewitness said that 'they were very relaxed, she's at home [here],' adding that they appeared 'affectionate'.
'They stayed for maybe an hour and a half, two hours. They had a dinner 'completo', (that is) with wine and meals.'
The pair are also believed to be enjoying time on Packer's luxury yacht. The 45-year-old diva was seen lounging around on the boat and taking a dip in the sea with her children and the fourth richest man in Australia. He allegedly worth an estimated $4.6 billion.
On Saturday, they were pictured on board a speedboad as they relaxed together in the sun off the coast of Capri.
Mariah had a hard time coping with her split from Nick Canon in 2014. In January this year, the America's Got Talent host reportedly filed for divorce after six years of marriage.
