Every day, thousands of people leave their pets alone in their homes. None of these pet owners think twice about what their adopted animals would do when left to their own devices.
A new animated movie tells the story of several cats, dogs, fishes and other animals who live a totally different life when their owners leave for work.
Illumination Entertainment has teamed up with Universal Studios to create 'The Secret Life of Pets,' a charming look into the world of animals. The studio has just released a teaser trailer which offers a glimpse at the craziness that unfolds when homeowners close their doors.
The trailer shows Gidget, a little dog who loves to watch her neighbor wait for his own owner to come home. It also features the cat Chloe, who refuses to eat her cat food and attacks the fridge instead.
Sweet Pea the bird likes to pretend he is soaring through the sky, while Mel the dog just watches out for squirrels. Finally, Leonard the poodle lashes out against his owner's classical music by playing heavy metal all day.
'The Secret Life of Pets' will be the first time that comedians Louis C.K. and Kevin Hart will do voice work. Louis provides the voice of Max the terrier while Hart voices Snowball the rabbit.
'Pets' also stars Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Eric Stonestreet, Steve Coogan, Dana Carvey, Bobby Moynihan, Jenny Slate, Hannibal Burress and Albert Brooks.
The film is directed by Chris Renaud, who also directed the 'Despicable Me' movies. Renaud had also worked on 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax' and is the executive producer of the upcoming 'Minions' film.
'The Secret Life of Pets' was originally scheduled for release on February 12, 2016 before it was pushed back. The film's new release date is on July 8, 2016.
