Burger King Unveils Red Cheeseburger

It's seems Burger King Japan is moving through the entire spectrum of colours in its attempt to draw attention to its menu.

Last year, the fast food chain's Japanese arm became an internet sensation when they debuted a limited time all-black hamburger.

Now, Burger King is looking to the colour red in their latest attempt at viral food items. The restaurant's latest tinted treat, the all-red hamburger will go on sale at Japanese outlets July 3.

The crimson concoction is named the Aka (Red in Japanese) Burger. It will come with a choice of two different patties, Samurai Beef and Samurai Chicken. Both will be sandwiched between red colored buns and come topped with a slice of red cheese and thick slice of tomato.

Tomato powder is the key ingredient to the burger's unique hue. The burgers will also be doused with a spicy red hot sauce made from miso and hot pepper to ramp up the redness factor even more. The Samurai Chicken will cost ¥540 while the Samurai Beef will set customers back ¥690.

The two new items will join the Black Burger on Burger King Japan's limited time menu. Known as the Kuro Pearl and Kuro Ninja burgers, the black treats come with bamboo charcoal infused cheese, a slice of bacon, and an onion and garlic sauce colored with squid ink alongside the usual lettuce and tomato.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that a newly updated version of the Black Burger will arrive shortly after the Aka Burger. The new Kuro Shogun will hit Burger King Japan outlets on August 21 and will come topped with a slice of deep fried eggplant.

There is no word on whether or not these new special burgers will find their way to other Burger King branches around the globe.
