Sweden's Prince Philip Marries Former Topless Model Sofia Hellqvist

Another glamorous royal wedding occurred in Europe as the Prince of Sweden and Sofia Hellqvist tied the knot in a chapel in the Stockholm Royal Palace Saturday. Daily Mail UK has released the official wedding portraits from Sweden's historic occasion.

Prince Carl Philip, 36 and Sofia Hellqvist, 30, were joined by members of various European royal families, as well as their friends and guests.

The prince's parents King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Sylvia joined the newlyweds in their fairytale wedding, together with Prince Philip's sisters, Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine.

The new princess, Sofia, wore a Swedish couture wedding gown created by designer, Ida Sjöstedt. The glamorous dress featured intricate lace details and a gorgeous hand-cut and hand-stitched train.

The bride looked very elegant donning a crown with diamonds and emeralds, as given by her in-laws, despite her controversial sunburst tattoo peaking through her embroidered veil.

People Magazine reported among the songs played during the wedding was Coldplay's "Fix You," which is said to relate to their fairytale love story.

The car-racing prince, who was previously known as a playboy, met the former reality show star and magazine model Sofia in 2010.

"I don't think I knew the magic of love before I met Sofia. But ever since I met her, I've seen how love can change a person," said Prince Philip during the couple's interview on a Swedish television.

"I completely agree," Sofia added. "Carl Philip is definitely the right person for me. He's my best friend."

Despite rumors that the royal family is against their relationship due to Sofia's topless magazine photos and indecent behaviors at the 2005 Swedish reality show, "Paradise Hotel," the prince pointed out that his family welcomed her with open arms.

"My parents and my sisters were curious about her, open, and welcomed her with a big hug," the prince shared. "She was hung out to dry in a bullying type of way."

The now HRH Princess Sofia added she felt welcomed by the royal family since day one and that she doesn't regret anything from her past.
