BMW AG originated with three manufacturing companies namely the Rapp Motorenwerke, Bayerische Flugzeugwerke and Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach. The companies started as manufacturers of aircraft engines until they became an automobile company known as BMW in 1929 when it purchased Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach.
BMW is competing with companies in producing cars that are also powered by electricty, due to tough restrictions on emissions. This car is said to bring a historic transformation not just to the franchise but to the whole company itself.
