Cavaliers Game 3 Hero Matthew Dellavedova Leaves Hospital, Ready to Play In Game 4
Cavaliers fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Australian point guard Matthew Dellavedova has left the hospital and has been cleared to play in Game 4 of the best of seven NBA finals.
Dellavedova was hospitalized after his career best playoff performance in Game 3 due to dehydration. He also suffered from cramps and had to be strapped to an IV. The second year guard was instrumental in the last game, pouring in a career playoff high 20 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His tenacious defence and scrappy play against league MVP Stephen Curry has also drawn the attention of pundits.
He has certainly been a bright spot for the injury plagued eastern conference champions, who are trying to win the franchise's first NBA championship without the contributions of all-star guard Kyrie Irving and big trade acquisition Kevin Love, who have been knocked out of the playoffs due to injury.
Speaking with the press Dellavedova had this to say: ''I've felt like I've pushed the limit a few times, but that's probably the tiredest I've been,'' Dellavedova said, describing how he felt following the game. ''I'm feeling good now, though, so it's good we don't have to play back-to-backs.''
The short-handed Cavaliers received more good news when wing Iman Shumpert was also given the go ahead to play in Game 4. Shumpert, who was acquired from the New York Knicks earlier in the season, was diagnosed with a bruised shoulder but MRI's showed no serious damage.
Cavaliers star and four time MVP Lebron James hailed Shumpert's toughness saying: ''When he came back on the floor with his shoulder wrapped and knowing that he wasn't at 100 percent, it means everything to the team,'' James said. ''But we just can't afford any more injuries. We're already depleted.''
The Cavaliers will look to take a 3-1 series lead over the Warriors tomorrow.
