Scary Malware on the Rise - FBI Working to Combat This Cyber Threat

According to Business Insider,  the scary malware is called Ransomware. Ransomware can take control of a person's mobile phone, computer, or even a certain file on a computer and used as security for payment .

If this frightening malware can't be stopped, a lot of people will be affected. The cyber criminals are increasing to use this kind of scam, that will result to cost people's fortune.

During the first quarter of 2015, stated in the McAfee's published data - the Ransomware incident theft has increased by 165 percent.

Ransomware aroused a great amount of alert from mobile users, as cyber criminals produced a great deal of profit using the malware. Hackers can generate thousands of dollars every month by receiving the ransom money from the people they held up online.

According to the FBI - the cyber criminals demanded from $200 to $5,000 as a primary payment, and the victims are instructed comprehensively on how to pay the ransom.

If the victim refuses to pay within the given deadline, the cyber criminals will then double the price of the ransom or they will corrupt the files of the infected gadget or machine.

To make matters more difficult for the victim, cyber criminals or hackers can extend their criminal activities to Businesses, financial institutions, government agencies, academic institutions, and other organizations. In the sense their proprietary information will be lost, regular operations will be distracted and the organization's reputation will put into harm.

The co-founder of the security firm Casaba Security - Jason Glassberg said: "The most important thing you can do, bar-none, is to continue to make backups of your data," he also said. "Because in the worse case scenario - your computer becomes affected and your hard drive becomes encrypted - you can at least revert back to the last good backup."

The FBI with public and private sector joined together to put an end to this act of cybercrime. They currently keep track of the offenders and the scams they have committed.
