Leaked information from Amazon has confirmed the release of the new Xbox One console on June 15. However, Microsoft debunked this, stating that the launch date in the U.S. is on the 16th instead.
The upgraded console is priced at $349 and the package comes with a 1TB hard drive and a new controller with a built-in headset jack. The existing 500GB model will be permanently available for $349.
The additional 500 GB in storage space is big news for passionate gamers who thought that the 500 GB storage was too small to hold all their collection. Major Xbox games consume almost 50 GB each which fills up the storage with just 10 games.
The new Xbox One introduces new features as well. A comment from the Director of Programming Major Nelson states the specs of the new console.
"You'll have the option to adjust headset volume, mic monitoring, and voice and game audio balance through the Settings menu on your console. In addition to audio improvements, we've fine-tuned the bumpers and enabled wireless firmware updates on the updated controller which eliminates having to connect the controller via USB cable to receive updates," Major Nelson said.
The quality of the audio and the maximum of audio volume of the Xbox one controller has been improved. All existing controller accessories are applicable with the new console.
Microsoft also announced that Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 will be on sale this autumn for $24.99 or bundled with the new Xbox console for $79.95.
While the Sony PlayStation 4 sales may be $22 million and profits from the Xbox One have been trailing significantly, Microsoft has a chance to catch up with the upgraded console that is available for the same price as the PS4.
