2015 has been a busy year for Dwayne Johnson so far, as the former wrestler has seen at least major films released in the past few months, namely the seventh installment of the "Fast and the Furious" series as well as disaster movie "San Andreas," which has been a critical flop - but his next project might see The Rock and John Carpenter teaming up.
The "Big Trouble In Big China" remake was announced a while back in a project that was set to also feature Johnson, and fans of the cult film weren't altogether too excited over the prospect - but if The Rock and John Carpenter work together, public perception might become more favorable.
According to Comic Book, the film, which is set to premiere in 2016, wants to be as faithful and respectful to the original 1986 movie it's based on - so much that The Rock wants John Carpenter, its director, and original star Kurt Russell to be part of the new project.
Slash Film reports that Johnson was asked about the upcoming remake during the Spike TV Guys Choice Awards last weekend, and the famously humble star was more than happy to talk about how much he respects the original movie, and The Rock's John Carpenter opinion is nothing more than that of admiration.
"I loved the original when I was younger and I loved the main character - all the characters," said Johnson to Entertainment Weekly, when asked about The Rock and John Carpenter. "It felt like if we surrounded ourselves with the right group of people, the right writers who loved the movie too and wanted to honor it, bring on John Carpenter in some capacity ... If we did that, then we have a shot at hopefully making something good."
Johnson will be taking on the role previously played by Russell, with whom he recently co-starred in "Furious 7."
If it ultimately ends up being true that The Rock and John Carpenter are working together, the new remake could become something quite interesting!
