Dave Chappelle Spike Lee: Comedian Joins ‘Chiraq’ Alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Wesley Snipes And Jennifer Hudson [PHOTO]

The director of cult classics like "Do The Right Thing" and "Malcolm X" is embarking on a new project, and he's bringing his A-list celebrity status to the table by casting some of the biggest names in show business, now including Dave Chappelle's Spike Lee collaboration.

Over the past few months, there has been some wild speculation about whether Kanye West will star in "Chiraq" or at least have a minor role in the project, but even though he's being closely watched it appears it's not the case, as some news outlets such as AV Club speculate that the casting of Dave Chappelle on Spike Lee's film might be replacing Kanye's appearance.

According to Vulture, "Chiraq" is a musical comedy about street violence in Chicago, and it was already star-studded without the addition of Dave Chappelle to Spike Lee's film, and yet the director recently showed the world the comedian was stepping in as well.

In a recent Instagram post, the world became attentive once more to the people filming the 2016 movie, as the iconic director posted a picture of Dave Chappelle and Spike Lee in what could easily pass as a set for a film about violence in Chicago, although there's still no official confirmation, according to The New York Times.

Beside the Dave Chappelle Spike Lee addition, other rumored cast members of the film are Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, Wesley Snipes and Nick Cannon, who recently split from wife Mariah Carey.

According to Chicago Tribune, Lee has been particularly secretive about the details behind the filming of "Chiraq" (which may actually be called "Chi-Raq") though it appears the scenery behind his picture with Chappelle was taken last Wednesday on nightclub "The Shrine" at the South Loop in Chicago.

The film is scheduled for a 2016 release, but there are little to no details confirmed as of yet - except for this promising photo of Dave Chappelle and Spike Lee!
