Subway To Remove Artificial Ingredients On Their Products

Good news to all health conscious and sandwich lovers because Subway just announced on June 4, Thursday that they will omit artificial ingredients on all of their North American menu by 2017. LA Times said that the famous sandwich shop has just found a way to switch up their motto "Eat Fresh," as they become a part of a revolution that is happening right now in the food industry.

According to Elizabeth Stewart who is the director of the company's corporate social responsibility, Subway will change all the ingredients that are not healthy, specifically the artificial ones like the caramel coloring found on their nine-grain bread and roast beef. They are so far proud of their decision to make this difference for a fast food chain and they would like to tell everybody that it is still an ongoing process for them. This change can also be expected worldwide, as they continue to progress with their campaign in keeping real ingredients only on their menu.

Stewart added that they will also switch to banana peppers colored with turmeric instead of their usual artificial dye Yellow No. 5. This is just one of the toppings that the company recently changed. They are also bound to work on recreating new recipes for their sauces and cookies to keep up with their healthy ingredients.

Other companies that are on board in creating a healthy meal out of their usual menu are Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and McDonald's. In fact, they also made such announcement months ahead of Subway. Fox News said that companies like Kraft and Nestle are removing artificial ingredients from some of their known products as well.

Yahoo News stated that Subway has already been active of their action to keep their brand healthier, since they removed articial trans-fat back in 2008. They also reduced the amount of sodium they put in their products since 2009 and even completely took out high fructose syrup from their sandwiches and salads last year.
