Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh installment of the classic space saga, is still more than six months away. However a new Star Wars video game coming to iOS and Android hopes to bridge the gap in the meantime. The game, entitled 'Star Wars: Uprising,' is an RPG that takes place in between the events of the franchises' last cinematic release, Return of the Jedi, and the aforementioned Force Awakens.
Here is the how the official StarWars.com press release describes the game:
"Star Wars: Uprising will feature key events set in the Anoat Sector, inclusive of Hoth and Cloud City, and will allow players to create characters, go on missions, build their gear and skills, and organize crews and factions to participate in wide-ranging battles. Keeping up with tradition of Star Wars roleplaying games, players will learn hundreds of new abilities and collect classic gear and equipment conducive to creating their own takes on iconic roles: Smuggler, Bounty Hunter, Rebel Guerilla, Diplomat, Gambler, or something new entirely."
The game is being developed by Kabam Studios, a mobile developer known for their other titles such as The Lord of the Rings: Legends of Middle-earth, Fast & Furious: Legacy, and Marvel Contest of Champions.
The developer says that Star Wars: Uprising "will introduce a new chapter of the Star Wars universe that will illuminate dramatic events in the Anoat Sector, inclusive of Hoth and Cloud City, following the Battle of Endor and the death of the Emperor."
Kabam Studios says they are planning a beta roll out in the coming weeks for select territories. Those interested in signing up may do so at: playstarwarsuprising.com. At launch the game will feature two playable chapters and the developers vow to support the title well into the future.
