Disney Working On Sister Act Remake

Whoopi Goldberg's Sister Act is considered to be one of 90's most successful comedies. Disney is now developing a remake fof the movie. Goldberg's participation in production is yet to be disclosed. 

Confirmed to write the screenplay are Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah who did an amazing writing job in the movies  Ella Enchanted, 10 Things I Hate About You, Legally Blonde, The House Bunny and She's the Man. Disney reported that they got Allison Shearmur to produce the film.

There is no plot yet revealed for the remake movie of Sister Act as noted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Editor of Huffington Post wrote: "Come on Hollywood, yes audiences loved these movies the first time around, but get it together and embrace some new ideas, perhaps?"

The movie which is a broadway musical based film, was a blockbuster hit back in the 1990's, it earned about $232 million worldwide. The Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit sequel generated in the U.S. alone for $57 million.

Disney's Touchstone Pictures Sister Act 1992 was about a lounge singer (Whoopi Goldberg) keeping out of sight from the mob and disguise herself as a nun for witnessing a murder .

Aside from Goldberg the movie also starred Maggie Smith and Harvey Keitel 

The 90's Sister Act movies brought a lot of laughter to the audiences. It may be a wiise decision after all to make a remake of the film. With big guns in writing Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Karen McCullah, it is no question that viewers will see a Sister Act remake a grand musical comedy like Pitch Perfect and Fox's Glee.
