Thync: Mood-Changing Wearable Calms The Brain

Thync, a company that focuses on neurology, officially released their mood changing device that induces energy and calmness.

The device is triangular in shape and is placed on the forehead. It sends Vibes, specially-formulated zaps that serve two purposes. It can either wake people up or cause them to calm down. The neurosignals activate nerves and result in changes in a person's state of mind.

The recently launched Thync headset, which is controlled by smartphones, costs $299 and is available online on their official website.

Dr. Jamie Tyler who is a known neuroscientist and bioengineer developed the device to its full capabilities, along with Isy Goldwasser.

The product was one of the most anticipated and promising devices showcased at the CES 2015.

Will Shanklin of Gizmag, a firsthand user of the device expressed his observations about it. He stated that the small head gear enabled him to be in a different state of mind. He also felt no side effects or whatsoever after using the device.

However, the government has issues about the safety and health risks of the device. Many doubt if the product is safe to use especially for a long period. Psychotherapist Rick Cormier states that devices like these are safe to use as long as the electrical charges are within the safe limits.

He also added that there is no evidence yet to prove sending electric impulses is dangerous. These positive findings come from Thync's trial that included over 3,000 participants.

There is also concern surrounding the potential addictive effects zapping a brain can have to a person. However, in the UK for instance, the Queen's speech has pointed out that only consummable items like illegal drugs would be banned.

This new product could bring change in the field of neurology. It can also be a great help to professionals treating patients diagnosed with depression, anxiety and other emotion-related problems.
