Robert Downey Jr. Marvel Contract Includes ‘Captain America: Civil War’ … And Screen Testing Spider-Man?

Only a few weeks after the release of the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe box office smash, "Avengers: Age of Ultron," it's time for the cast to get together in Atlanta to film the third installment of Steve Rogers' saga with "Captain America: Civil War," a movie that's on Robert Downey Jr.'s Marvel contract.

While it has been widely reported that the most recent Robert Downey Jr. Marvel contract includes an appearance in the film (as well as other cast members such as Elizabeth Olsen, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany and even new MCU addition Paul Rudd, who will debut as Ant-Man this summer), the latest rumors also seem to point out he's a major part of the Spider-Man casting.

Jeremy Renner is apparently also on set now, according to Christian Today.

In any case, following the critical and box office flop that "The Amazing Spider-Man" became in 2014, comic book fans all over the world rejoiced to know Sony Pictures and Disney had finally reached a deal to add the young Avenger to the MCU, and it appears even Robert Downey Jr.'s Marvel contract was involved.

According to Cinema Blend, due to Robert Downey Jr.'s Marvel contract, the Oscar-nominated actor finally flew into the Atlanta set for the movie over the past weekend, coinciding with some other major news from Marvel, as it's said that they're now in the final screen tests phase with the possible Peter Parker actors, who are reportedly "Hugo" star Asa Butterfield, "The Impossible" actor Tom Holland, Judah Lewis from "The Demolition," Matthew Lintz from this summer's "Piexels," Charlie Rowe from "Red Band Society" and Charlie Plummer from "Boardwalk Empire."

Could screen testing young Avengers be part of Robert Downey Jr.'s Marvel contract?

In the meantime, the actor has been making news since landing in Atlanta, as he's posted pictures of himself on social media asking fans to "pick your side" for the Marvel Civil War.

There are little details regarding Robert Downey Jr.'s Marvel contract, but it's become clear that he's the biggest star in the series in his role of Tony Stark/Iron Man.
